Badge v2.5.0 will be released on 08/06/2026. Clients will automatically receive this update – no action is required.

New & Improved

Access control updates for permissions and reporting

Badge now includes expanded access control options so administrators can manage permissions more precisely across key areas of the product. This release adds controls for Secure Share list column management, campus access and maintenance, photo management in record editing workflows, and reporting visibility by assigned campus. Together, these updates make it easier to give users the access they need while limiting access to functions and data that should remain restricted.

• Manage permissions for adding, editing, and deleting columns in Badge → Secure Share.
• Control access to the Campuses page, including adding, editing, and deleting campuses. Device Manager also now includes permission control for adding locations.
• Restrict who can add, edit, or remove photos in the Record Edit modal within Secure Share, ID Print, and Batch Print.
• Use the new View Activity for Assigned Campuses permission to control whether users can view reporting data only for themselves or for users within their assigned campuses.

Google SSO for Badge login

Users can now sign in to Badge with their Google account from the login screen, similar to the existing Microsoft sign-in option. For most schools, this can be used immediately. Schools that limit third-party app access in Google Workspace will see setup guidance for their administrator.

Device Manager and reader management improvements

These Device Manager and reader management updates are being introduced for select schools and users participating in our CR-One pilot program for the new connected reader. Clients who are not part of the CR-One pilot will not have access to Device Manager or visibility into this new platform. For pilot participants, the updates include stronger certificate handling for card readers, added Tap Events data columns for better visibility, clearer decode failure settings, and a more consistent Client Edit experience directly within Device Manager.

• Improved the security of reader connectivity by issuing individual certificates tied to each reader’s specific CN and serial number, making certificate rotation and revocation easier to manage.

• Updated labels and helper text for decode failure settings to make fallback and feedback behavior easier to understand.

• Updated the Client Edit Dialog to use Device Manager-style UI elements, added the Enrich Tap Event Data switch, and made this configuration available directly in Device Manager.

Stability & Reliability

• Replaced numeric user IDs with user names in the Secure Share Last Modified By filter, making filter values easier to understand.
• Improved validation when saving third-party list connections so enrollment failures caused by missing required fields can be caught earlier and investigated more reliably.
